Schattdorf is perfect as starting point for sports and leisure time activities during summer and winter. The sunny mountain terrace Haldi with its lovely Haldi chapel can be reached by a modern cable railway and is very suitable for active relaxation.
Schattdorf is known as a village where since the beginning of the 15th century until Mai in 1928, the people entitled to vote were gathering on the "Landsgemeinde" day once a year in order to settle all political decisions. These votes were held on the village's central square and they were all public. From 1950 to 2002, only the historic Landsgemeinde shooting match remembered this significant political meeting of former days. Schattdorf's famous landmark is the parish and pilgrimage church in baroque style, which was consecrated in 1733. Its carved altars display the highly artistic skill of the past. The large number of votive tablets on the back wall of the nave testify to the many prayers of pilgrims that have been answered.
