Not far from the intense traffic flow over the Gotthard, a winding mountain road sets aside for the Maderanertal. When you have conquered an almost 200 m high slope, over which the wild Chärstelenbach falls down with a rustling crash, you will arrive in Bristen.
In the Maderanertal, you can still explore an intact countryside with its wild streams, lovely little lakes, spraying waterfalls, glorious woodland and the manifold flora of this alpine world. Lilies of various kind and countless other flowers gladden the observer?s heart. In the early morning hours and in the evenings, you can watch wild animals if you are lucky enough. The valley is surrounded by striking mountains that are covered with snow or with glaciers. With its wide variety of hiking trails, ranging from short walks to more challenging and narrow alpine paths, the Maderanertal is a popular area for hikers. The valley offers also ideal conditions for climbing, ski-hiking, fishing and tours on the mountain bike.
