Bauen - Isleten

Bauen is a prospering village. Thanks to its sheltered location on an inlet on the Western shores of Lake of Uri, Bauen is characterised by a particularly mild climate. Southern plants such as palm trees, fig trees and banana trees are in blossom and even bear fruits here. Bauen is a haven for people seeking peace and quiet, since the centre of this village is closed to all traffic.
Palm trees and other exotic plants flourish in the Mediterranean climate of Bauen. No wonder therfore that this picturesque village is a popular place for marriages. Father Alberik Zwyssig, the composer of the Swiss national anthem, was born here. Bauen/Isleten offer public bathing beaches with barbecue sites and outdoor climbing walls. This place is perfect for scuba divers, (kite-)surfers and fishermen. The wonderful Bauen on the shores of Lake of Uri is the smallest village in the canton of Uri. Its sheltered location, surrounded by the adjoining mountains of Nidwalden and the greenish-blue lake cove, give Bauen its unmistakable charisma. The four restaurants spoil their guests with culinary delights, both Swiss or international dishes are available. During summer, a charming bathing beach is to everybody's disposal for free.
