From the North, you reach the canton of Uri by your own mean of transport on the motorway A2 or on the legendary Axen road, and from the South through the 20 km long Gotthard road tunnel. All other access roads are only opened during the summer months and lead you over alpine passes.

Arrival by train

The railway line through the Gotthard, which was inaugurated in 1882, crosses the canton of Uri on ist northern section. National and international trains (Hamburg ? Mailand) run on the impressive railway line with helical tunnels and viaducts.

There are railway stations in Fl�elen, Erstfeld and G�schenen. Direct connections to Lucerne, Zurich, Basel every 30 minutes; connections with the whole European railway network.

Arrival by ship and bus

With the shipping company Lake Lucerne you attain to all lakeside municipalities of Uri, the "Swiss Path" and various historical sites such as the R�tli or the Tell's chapel. Inside the canton, regional trains as well as buses (Auto AG Uri and Postauto Zentralschweiz) provide a network of public transportation. In summer, rides over the five alpine passes in Uri are also offered.

Arrival by plane

International air connections with the airports Geneva-Cointrin, Zurich-Kloten, Basel-Mulhouse and Bern-Belp. All these are optimally linked with the public transport system.
